Hi, Welcome to the Garage.
Curious about clay? Step into The Garage. It’s a place to get your hands dirty, spin the wheel, and see what you’re made of.
Doesn’t matter if it’s your first class or your fiftieth. Beginners, pros, and everyone in between belong here.
We keep it simple. Small classes, real community, and plenty of time at the wheel. You’ll learn the roots of ceramics, fire the kiln, mix your own glazes, and find out why clay has been around as long as people have.
Class Offerings
We’ve got classes for every pace and every level. Want to dive deep? Sign up for our 8-week beginner or intermediate courses. Just testing the waters? Our intro sessions are a great way to see if clay feels right in your hands. Looking for something quick and fun? Try a 2-Hour workshop. Perfect for date nights, birthdays, or private group hangs!
Community Events
The Garage isn’t just a classroom. It’s a gathering place. We host artist talks, open houses, clay nights, and community showcases that bring together makers of all kinds. You might even spot local work for sale through our site. Check our Events page often to see what’s coming up. There’s always something happening in The Garage!
Meet the Owners!
Monika started her ceramic arts journey at Iowa State University in 2017. Her approach to pottery focuses on body positioning and sustainable use of materials. She studied under Ingrid Lilligren, who has been doing ceramics for over 60 years and is still a professor at Iowa State University. Monika brings the knowledge, practical skills and philosophy she learned in Ingrid’s studio.
Monika and Steven wanted to create a space for people of all skill levels to come together to learn ceramics in a studio that feels like home (and because, for Steven, it is his home).
